become a facilitator!

Empty Arms is open to hiring new co-facilitators and substitute facilitators for our support groups! Empty Arms’ Support Groups are the cornerstone of our services offered to grieving families in the Pioneer Valley and beyond.  If moving into a leadership role feels like the right move to you, keep reading.

The motto of Empty Arms is “You are never alone.” That statement is a critical part of who we are as an organization. We know that being alone after the loss of a baby is unbearable, and companionship is essential at times of vulnerability. Our facilitators must not only lead support groups, but also work to build community within our support groups spaces and follow up with families throughout their grief journey.

The role requires a monthly commitment of  3-5 hours. Facilitators are paid a stipend of $50 per month of facilitation.

If you are interested, please send an email to specifying which support group you would like to facilitate. We ask that you include information about why you want to facilitate a support group, and whether or not you have attended an Empty Arms support group in the past.

write for our blog!

Empty Arms is always looking for contributions to our blog. We offer it as a community space to share your story and your baby. If you would like to share a photo, a poem, a story, we welcome it. Please email Sarah at for more information.

As a small organization with two part-time staff, we are often looking for community members to help us with the business of running a non-profit. If you are interested in helping with one of our events, writing thank you notes to generous donors, or simply tiding up after a meeting, we would love your help. Please email Sarah at to find something that fits your schedule.
